Exterior, the French carmaker has announced that the new India-spec sub-4-meter SUV will be available in six shades with two-tone color options on offer. It will also boast of a premium, feature-loaded cabin, including an innovative 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and push-button start/stop, auto climate control, a PM 2.5 air filter, and standard dual front airbags. Apart from that, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, hill start assist, and vehicle dynamic control will also be witnessed in the top-spec variants of the 5-seater SUV.

Under the hood, the Kiger will employ two BS6-compliant 1.0-litre petrol engines. While the first one is likely to be a naturally aspirated unit developing 72PS of power and 96Nm, the other will be a turbocharged motor that is good for 100PS and 150Nm. Transmission-wise, both engines will be mated to a 5-speed MT and get an optional 5-speed CVT. If launched in March 2021, the Renault Kiger will take on the likes of the Toyota Urban Cruiser, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, and the Nissan Magnite.

2. Maruti Swift 2021

Joining the list of upcoming cars in India comes the Maruti Swift 2021. In its upcoming avatar, the Maruti vehicle will witness a few changes in terms of its appearance. To be specific, the domestic auto giant is likely to give its hot hatch an updated honeycomb mesh grille accentuated by either a chrome or a red strip along with a newly-added set of 16-inch alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the bumpers will also get some tweaks for a more aggressive look. Inside, the Swift 2021 is likely to carry over most features from the existing model except for an alternative 4.2-inch colored driver’s display. Notable features will include cruise control, auto AC, dual front airbags, and rear parking sensors, to name a few. New seat fabrics and upholstery will be on offer, as well.

Powering the Maruti Swift 2021 will be the new 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol unit seen in the facelifted Dzire. With this engine in place, the vehicle is capable of churning out a maximum of 90PS and 113Nm, 7PS higher than the current motor. Transmission options are likely to be a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. If launched, the Maruti Swift 2021 will rival the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Ford Figo and Freestyle, and Renault Triber.

3. Mahindra eKUV100

Expected price: Rs 8.25 lakh (New Delhi)

Expected launch: March 2021

Topping off our list is the first all-electric micro SUV in India, the Mahindra eKUV100. Expected to come at a premium price of Rs 8.25 lakh, the new eKUV100 is likely to be offered with a plethora of high-end features like connected car tech, cabin precooling, location tracking, remote diagnostics, and monitoring the driving pattern of the driver. On the other hand, the upcoming all-electric micro SUV is also likely to sport safety essentials such as rear parking sensors, dual front airbags, front seat belt alert, overspeeding alert, and ABS with EBD.

Performance-wise, the new Mahindra eKUV100 will employ a 15.9kWh liquid-cooled battery pack allowing the vehicle to reach 147 km per a single full charge. Besides, it will also be available with a fast charging option that could pep up the battery by 80 percent within one hour. If launched, the eKUV100 will challenge the Mahindra eVerito and Tata Tigor EV.
